A Letter from Head Football Coach

Dear Granby Football Players and Parents/Guardians,
 
As the new Head Coach of the Granby Bears, it is my honor and privilege to be able to continue the tradition of football in Granby.  In 5 years this program has gone from a glimmer of hope, to reality for the community.  I am dedicated to this team, the community and the alumni to enhance our program and to develop it into one of formidability along with all the other athletic programs at our school.
 
Tradition - a ritual, belief or object passed down within a society, still maintained in the present, with origins in the past.
 
A tradition of excellence has already been established here. It is my goal to establish a tradition of winning. Winning is not only a score on a scoreboard. It is an attitude, charisma, and class. My goal, as football coach, is to teach these young men what it is to be successful on and off the football field.  
 
Success and ambitious goals are strenuous expectations that will be put on the shoulders of our program’s athletes. Granby football players will be disciplined, fundamentally sound and sportsman on and off the field.  I, as coach, will emphasize all three on a daily basis.  It is my goal that these players will play football the way the game is meant to be played. These athletes, under my direction, will enjoy their football experience as well as build bonds and memories that will last a lifetime. When every football player walks off the field they will be known as respectful, classy, young men that understand the rules and expectations of not only football but what it is to be a student athlete.
 
For players, football should be one of the most exciting times of their high school career.  However, our team will be academically sound. I have high expectations that every student will maintain a “C” or better in EVERY class. No exceptions. You are STUDENT ATHLETES, NOT ATHLETIC STUDENTS.
 
Parents, the football team relies on your support. This program would not be here if it wasn’t for your dedication. Please be involved with the team by supporting our GMHS Football Supporters! Please check with Brad Field or Kevin Blake about how you can help. Please leave the coaching to the staff.
